2027: Bekenawei joins House of Reps race, promises real positive change in Warri Federal Constituency
A political leader, Chief Pedro Tuwayerin Bekenawei, has joined the race to represent the people of Warri Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, come the 2027 general elections, on the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
Chief Bekenawei, the Agadewei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West, and formerly a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), made his aspiration known in a statement he released over the weekend in Abuja where he picked his Expression of Interest Form for the House of Reps race.
The NDC aspirant stated that he is running with the mandate of "Effective Representation for Real and Positive Change" buoyed by his determination to move governance from mere talk to action, while emphasizing on adhering to the rule of law.
He said, "My noble ambition cannot be achieved without the good people of Warri Federal Constituency, as a true son of the land and a true democrat, standing before you this day, not just a candidate, but as a partner in progress.
"My mission and goals is to change the narrative of representation from mere promises to visible and impactful action as a young man with the penchant for development and the rule of law.
"A society that is not governed by law is a failed one, therefore, with the peculiarity in diversity of our federal constituency, the primary objective is to build a stronger cohesion to mitigate factors that are capable of causing ethnic tensions as to move our constituency forward," Chief Bekenawei added.

The native of Kokodiagbene Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom further unveiled his agenda he referred to as "seven key thematic areas" he will give focus to in his determination to drive real and positive change in his constituency.
"I am committed to championing legislation and attracting federal initiatives focused on seven (7) key thematic areas that include as follows: (1) To ensure cohesion and respect for our ethnic diversity in peace building and to attract development across Warri federal constituency; (2) Legislative accountability: Sponsor Bills directly impacting the people of our constituency and hold town hall meetings to specifically ascertain the need of the people and to work in that direction; (3) All inclusiveness: Equitable distribution of democratic dividends across the constituents blocs, both rural and urban, accruing from constituency projects funds;
Others are, "(4) Healthcare Accessibility: Promote primary healthcare reforms, such as mobile clinics and medical vouchers for the elderly; (5) Economic empowerment and Agriculture: Support small scale businesses (SMEs) with grants and supply farmers with modern equipment and input; (6) Infrastructure and rural development: Advocate for the rehabilitation of roads, rural electrification, and clean water access; (7) Quality Education and Skills Acquisition: Forces on renovation of schools, supplying educational materials, and creating ICT hubs for youth empowerment."
Chief Bekenawei pledged to serve the people of Warri Federal Constituency with "integrity, compassion, and a commitment to the rule of law" and "To operate an open door policy, making myself accessible to all constituents," if given the opportunity to serve.
"In conclusion, representation is a responsibility and leadership is a trust. I am committed to serving you with dedication, integrity and legislative impact. Together, we will move Warri Federal Constituency forward," he stressed.
Warri Federal Constituency comprises Warri South, Warri South-West, and Warri North local government areas of Delta State, inhabited by the Urhobo, Ijaw and Itsekiri ethnic nationalities.
