2027: Diaspora Group Renews Call on Pukon for House of Reps, says Warri Federal Constituency Deserves Effective Leadership
A political pressure group, the Concerned Warri Federal Constituents in Diaspora, has renewed its call on a one-time councilor and former national secretary of the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, Hon. Frank Pukon, Ph.D, to contest at the national level in the House of Representatives as a Member Representing Warri Federal Constituency, come 2027.
The group made its position known in an official statement signed by its Coordinator, Boukan Godwin; Secretary, Oristegubemi Promise; Public Relations Officer (PRO), Oghenero Peter, and made available to PENGlobal on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
According to the Diaspora group, it is convinced that Hon. Pukon "possesses the qualities and leadership capacity required to represent Warri Federal Constituency effectively at the national level" aided with his previous public experience as a "Councillor Representing Diebiri Ward, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State; Senior Special Assistant (Youth Development) to the Delta State Government, Senior Special Assistant (Political) to the Delta State Government, National Secretary Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, etc."
The group also revealed that its "renewed call is driven by a deep desire to see credible, inclusive, and development-oriented leadership representing our constituency" while it also posited that, "We believe Warri Federal Constituency deserves a leader who understands the complexities of the region and has the ability to unite our diverse communities while pursuing meaningful development," the group added.
Among other qualities of Hon. Pukon, the Diaspora group said it believes that the grassroots vibrant leader is a leader that is trustworthy having "consistently demonstrated integrity, humility, and a genuine commitment to service" and possessing a "reputation for fairness, accessibility, and dedication to the welfare of the people" which they further said "has earned him widespread respect across communities and among individuals from different backgrounds."
They also believe that Hon. Pukon, an Ijaw son married to a woman partly Itsekiri and Okere-Urhobo, is the ideal candidate that symbolises "Unity for the Three Warri Ethnic Nationalities" and that "makes him a natural unifying figure capable of promoting peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and collective progress among our people", a stabilising factor needed for the development of the constituency.
Others include his grassroots-oriented leadership connection as well as vision that has exposed him to the challenges of the constituency; and his commitment to human capital development.
"From our perspective as constituents, Hon. Pukon is widely recognized as a grassroots-oriented leader who remains connected to the people and understands the everyday challenges faced by communities across the constituency. His intellectual depth, leadership experience, and commitment to critical thinking and innovation position him well to effectively represent the interests of Warri Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers.
"We believe he has the vision and competence needed to advocate for policies that will promote infrastructure development, youth empowerment, economic growth, education, and improved social welfare for our people.
"We are also encouraged by Hon. Pukon’s commitment to human capital development. His passion for empowering young people, supporting women, and creating opportunities for growth within communities reflects a leadership philosophy centered on building people and strengthening society.
"We believe this commitment will translate into effective representation and sustainable development for Warri Federal Constituency," the group stressed.
The concerned constituents in the diaspora, who stated that they "remain deeply connected to the progress and future of our homeland", appealed to Hon. Pukon to present himself to serve as "The time has come for him to answer the call" to contest for the 2027 House of Representatives as Member representing the Constituency.
In conclusion, the group affirmed that, “We are confident that his leadership will strengthen unity among our people and bring effective representation and development to our constituency. For us, the message remains clear: Warri Federal Constituency deserves leadership that understands its diversity, values unity, and is committed to the progress of its people. We believe Hon. Pukon embodies these qualities.”
