The National President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), High Chief (Hon.) Macdonald Ebi Igbadiwei Esq., who is the Traditional Prime Minister of Gbaraun Kingdom in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has been unveiled as the Keynote Speaker of the forthcoming National Association of Gbaramatu Students' 7th Mega Elective Convention, which has as its theme, "Culture and Identity: Preserving the Heritage, Values, and Legacy of Our People".

This was revealed by NAGS Convention Planning Committee (CPC) led by its Chairman, Comrade Ubebe Brakoru Kester Denyefa, during a courtesy visit to the INC President on Monday, June 8, 2026.

Other members of the CPC also present during the visit are Comr. Tolar Theresa (Secretary) Comr. Febaide Keme Doubra (Logistics Officer), Comr. Eguare Prosper (Accreditation Coordinator/Eleco Chairman), and Comr. Patrick O. Padiayefagha (Protocol Officer).

According to Ubebe, the decision of the student body to adopt the theme for the convention arises from students' eagerness to learn more about their heritage, and the choice of the INC President as Keynote Speaker is due to his versatile knowledge on Ijaw culture and tradition.

"Today, we paid a courtesy visit to the proposed keynote speaker of our forthcoming convention, and INC President, High Chief (Hon.) Macdonald Igbadiwei," Ubebe said during a chat with PENGlobal Community.

"The visit formed part of the committee’s strategic engagements ahead of the convention, which is themed 'Culture & Identity: Preserving the Heritage, Values, and Legacy of Our People'," he added.

Earlier, High Chief Igbadiwei, who received the NAGS delegation and gave them some exposition during their visit, accepted the official invitation as Keynote Speaker of the convention.

The 001 in the Ijaw Nation promised to grace the forthcoming mega convention, which, according to the NAGS CPC, is scheduled to hold from Friday, July 24, to Sunday, July 26, 2026.

The INC National President also commended the student body for adopting the theme of the 7th Mega Convention, stressing on the importance of cultural preservation among the Ijaw people.
