AGM/EOYP: 2025 in Retrospect as LUSESC Ends Year with Reunion Party
The Old Students Association of Luminary Secondary School (LUSESC) closed the year 2025 with its Annual General Meeting and End of Year Party (AGM/EOYP) as part of its reunion efforts, bringing together members of the alumni to relive cherished memories at KFT Place, Ekpan, Delta State, on Friday, December 26.
Led by its President, Mr. Gabriel Ukuli, the LUSESC AGM/EOYP 2025 had in attendance members all dressed in white outfits, with Mr. Zion Oshiobuge as guest speaker.

◼️ Activities and Programmes in Review
In a rundown of programmes undertaken during the year, LUSESC visited its alma mater—the Luminary Schools—and the Great Faith Nursery/Primary School, both located on Karien Street in Okumagba Layout, as part of activities marking World Hygiene Management Day.
The visit on Monday, May 5, 2025, afforded participants the opportunity to sensitize pupils and students on good health hygiene practices, including hand washing and environmental hygiene awareness, with a practical demonstration on proper hand washing techniques.
◼️ Mid-Year Meeting and Alumni Engagement
On Sunday, July 13, 2025, the Association held its mid-year meeting at Ogunu, near Warri. The meeting was presided over by the National President, Mr. Ukuli, who urged members to utilise the power of networking to uplift one another, as well as the need to pool resources together towards building an Association that “empowers, enriches, and endures” for all time.
A keynote speaker and member of the alumni, Ugochukwu Ikeraolo, Head of the Advisory Committee (2001 set), delivered an address titled “We Rise By Lifting Us: Alumni, Alliances and the Power of Collective Progress.” He stressed the power of collaboration over individual effort and challenged members to utilise the opportunities the alumni body offers beyond being merely a “social group.”

◼️ History and Growth of the Association
LUSESC was established in 2005 with the vision of “Illuminating humanity through morals and standards” and a mission statement “to create an enabling environment for growth, to foster welfare, unity, and solidarity among its members and humanity.” Its motto is “…May Your Light Continue to Shine!”
The Association evolved in 2011 into a general alumni body, leading to an expansion of its scope and the strengthening of its organizational structure to better serve the collective interests of its members and the alma mater.
It formally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), gaining legal recognition as an official entity and laying the foundation for improved governance, accountability, and sustainable growth. The Association was fully consolidated in 2024, marking the beginning of a new era characterized by structured leadership, enhanced member engagement, and renewed commitment to the development of Luminary Secondary School and its alumni community.

◼️ Impact and Future Outlook
The body has embarked on several programmes across Delta State in its bid to alleviate hardship and suffering, while promoting wellbeing, especially through education and health initiatives.
Today, the Old Students Association of LUSESC stands as a unified, recognized, and forward-looking body dedicated to service, excellence, and enduring alumni relations.
As the New Year 2026 begins, members of the Association remain hopeful for a prosperous year, with greater impact through humane projects aimed at uplifting humanity in line with its vision and goals.
