The Executive Chairman of Asafama Community in the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Episi Mulade, has suspended the general meeting of community stakeholders earlier scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following the intervention of elder statesman Capt. Nelson Ebitimi, A.K.A. Bob OK, in the lingering leadership dispute.

Mulade, who had earlier invited sons and daughters of the Nainai Dynasty, Asafama Community, to the meeting at Bimos Hotel, Airport Road, Warri, said the decision to suspend the gathering was taken in deference to Elder Ebitimi's peace initiative and call for dialogue among all parties.

Ebitimi had called for a roundtable meeting of elders, leaders, stakeholders, youths, women and other concerned members of Asafama Community to peacefully deliberate on the leadership disagreement and work towards an amicable resolution. The peace meeting is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Bimos Hotel, Airport Road, Warri.

Responding to the intervention, Mulade welcomed the peace initiative and appealed to sons and daughters of Asafama Community to give the elder statesman the necessary support by attending the proposed meeting.

According to the chairman, the decision to suspend his earlier meeting is intended to create room for dialogue and demonstrate his willingness to support every genuine effort aimed at restoring peace, unity and stability in the community.

He urged all parties to place the collective interest of Asafama above personal differences and approach the August 29 meeting with open minds, and further appealed to elders, chiefs, leaders, women, youths and other stakeholders of the community to honour Ebitimi's invitation, stressing that dialogue remains an important avenue for resolving disagreements and strengthening peaceful coexistence.

He expressed hope that the intervention would provide an opportunity for all parties to state their positions, address their differences and reach an understanding that would protect the unity and development of Asafama Community.

The chairman also called on his supporters and other members of the community to remain peaceful and avoid actions or statements capable of escalating tensions while the reconciliation process is ongoing.

The latest development comes amid a disagreement over the leadership of Asafama Community after some elders and stakeholders announced Mulade's suspension as Executive Chairman, a position he has disputed.

With the suspension of the August 25 general meeting, attention is now expected to shift to the August 29 peace meeting convened by Ebitimi, as stakeholders seek a negotiated resolution to the leadership dispute.
