DELTA STATE COUNCILLORS’ SYMPOSIUM 2025: Comr. Ubebe Congratulates Rt. Hon. Ekpemupolo

I extend my most sincere congratulations to RT. HON. EKPEMUPOLO IDUKEDOUMENE SAMUEL, the Leader in the Warri South West Legislative Arm, and Chairman, Delta State Councillors’ Forum, on the successful hosting of the Delta State Councillors’ Symposium 2025; a landmark event that has set a new standard for grassroots political engagement and institutional dialogue within our State.

Although the symposium has formally concluded, the magnitude of its impact continues to resonate. For the first time in our State’s democratic history, councillors representing all 25 Legislative Arms of Local Government Councils gathered in a unified assembly with policy leaders and critical stakeholders to engage in strategic deliberations on issues fundamental to grassroots' governance.

The symposium, held under the profoundly relevant theme: “Repositioning the Grassroots: Strengthening Local Governance for Sustainable Development in Nigeria in the Wake of Local Government Autonomy,” was not merely a ceremonial gathering, but a courageous and visionary stride toward institutional reform, capacity building, and the consolidation of democratic values at the local level.

Sir, your leadership in conceptualising and delivering this symposium reflects a rare blend of foresight, administrative competence, and an unwavering commitment to public service. You have not only elevated the role of the councillor in the democratic process, but also affirmed the relevance of local governance in the broader pursuit of national development.

I wish also to commend the esteemed presence and participation of the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, whose engagement with the proceedings demonstrated a model of responsive and inclusive governance. Equally worthy of note is the keynote address delivered by the immediate-past governor, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, as well as the presence of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Emomotimi Guwor (ably represented by the Deputy Speaker), the Honourable Commissioners, ALGON Chairman, Local Government Chairmen, respected elders, and all distinguished guests who honoured the occasion with their presence.

Permit me, therefore, to once again applaud your exemplary leadership and the collective resolve of the Delta State Councillors’ Forum in achieving this extraordinary milestone.

May this symposium serve as a catalyst for sustained engagement, legislative innovation, and improved service delivery across our local councils.

Twenty-Five Local Governments. One Delta. One Future.
God bless the Delta State Councillors’ Forum.
God bless Delta State.

Yours in service:
COMR. UBEBE B. KESTER DENYEFA
A Grassroots Patriot
