The Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) has called on all eligible sons and daughters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State to actively participate in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the riverine communities of the kingdom.

The appeal was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, and signed by the President of the GYC, Mr. Egbejule Arerebo Kingsley, who described the voter registration exercise as a critical democratic responsibility that will determine the political future and representation of the kingdom in the forthcoming 2027 General Elections.

According to the GYC President, every eligible indigene who has attained the age of 18 years, as well as those who are yet to register, have misplaced their Permanent Voter's Cards (PVCs), or require transfer or correction of their voter information, should take advantage of the exercise before the registration window closes.

"The Gbaramatu Youth Council urges all eligible persons who have attained the age of 18 years and above, as well as those who are yet to register or need to transfer or update their voter records, to immediately visit the designated INEC registration centres in their respective communities before the exercise closes.

"As a kingdom that has consistently advocated for equitable representation, justice, and sustainable development, it is imperative that every eligible indigene is counted politically. Our voting strength remains one of the strongest instruments for protecting our collective interests, advancing our developmental aspirations, and ensuring that the voices of Gbaramatu people are heard at every level of government," part of the statement reads.

He stressed that active participation in the voter registration process would strengthen Gbaramatu Kingdom's political relevance and ensure that its people are adequately represented in future electoral processes.

Mr. Kingsley noted that voting remains one of the most powerful constitutional tools through which citizens can influence governance, demand accountability, and promote sustainable development within their communities.

He urged community leaders, youth organisations, women groups, religious institutions, students, and other stakeholders across Gbaramatu Kingdom to intensify sensitisation campaigns by encouraging eligible residents to register and obtain their Permanent Voter's Cards.

"The Council further appeals to community leaders, youth leaders, women groups, religious organisations, student bodies, and other stakeholders to mobilise their members and encourage widespread participation in the exercise. We must not allow apathy or misinformation to deprive us of our constitutional right to vote," he stated.

The GYC President further emphasised that the kingdom must not allow voter apathy or negligence to undermine its collective political strength, adding that every registered voter contributes to the advancement of the kingdom's developmental aspirations and democratic rights.

While commending the INEC for extending the Continuous Voter Registration exercise to communities in the riverine kingdom, he urged the electoral body to ensure that the exercise remains seamless, transparent, inclusive, and accessible to all eligible citizens.

He also appealed to INEC officials to provide adequate logistics and personnel to guarantee a smooth registration process throughout the exercise.

Reaffirming the Council's commitment to civic participation and democratic governance, Mr. Kingsley encouraged all Gbaramatu indigenes to register, safeguard their Permanent Voter's Cards, and participate peacefully in the 2027 General Elections.

He maintained that a high voter turnout and active political participation would further strengthen the voice of Gbaramatu Kingdom, enhance its democratic influence, and contribute significantly to the overall development of Warri South-West LGA, Delta State, and Nigeria at large.
