INFRASTRUCTURE: Azama community appeals for developmental projects, commends Guwor's leadership

The Chairman of Azama Federated Community in the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Comrade Ikpidi Layefa, has appealed to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, to accelerate infrastructural development to the riverine community.

Ikpidi made the appeal in a press statement where he acknowledged the developmental efforts of the Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori's administration while urging the state government to prioritise underserved riverine communities such as Azama.

According to him, despite the positive impact of the state's MORE Agenda across Delta, Azama still faces significant infrastructural deficits that require urgent government attention.

The community chairman commended Speaker Guwor for what he described as his purposeful representation, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the development of Gbaramatu Kingdom and the entire Warri South-West Constituency.

Describing the Speaker as a worthy ambassador of the kingdom, Ikpidi said Guwor's legislative accomplishments, accessibility, and commitment to community development had continued to earn him the admiration and confidence of the people.

"On behalf of the good people of Azama Federated Community, I sincerely appreciate our amiable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, for his selfless service, exemplary leadership, and consistent efforts toward improving the welfare of our people. His dedication to the growth of Gbaramatu Kingdom is visible and highly commendable," he stated.

The community chairman stressed that strategic investments in critical infrastructure, including roads, jetties, schools, healthcare centres, potable water, electricity, and youth empowerment programmes, would significantly improve the living conditions of residents while unlocking the economic potential of the community.

He noted that the people of Azama remained peaceful, industrious, and fully supportive of the developmental vision of the Delta State Government.

While acknowledging constituency projects already facilitated through the intervention of the Speaker, Ikpidi appealed for more government presence in Azama, saying additional projects would complement the state's efforts in addressing the unique developmental challenges facing riverine communities.

He also called on relevant ministries, government agencies, intervention bodies, development partners, and corporate organisations operating in the Niger Delta to partner with the state government in delivering sustainable development to Azama and other neglected riverine settlements.

Reaffirming the community's loyalty to the Delta State Government and the leadership of Speaker Guwor, Ikpidi assured that the people of Azama would continue to promote peace, unity, and an enabling environment for development.

He expressed confidence that the government would respond positively to the community's appeal, noting that improved infrastructure would not only enhance the quality of life of residents but also stimulate economic activities and foster inclusive development across the riverine areas of Delta State.
