A youth leader in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr Andrew Bebenimibo, has called on youths in the Warri Federal Constituency and in other parts of the state to shun acts of violence and war mongering, but instead to work for the peace and development of the society.

Mr. Bebenimibo, a former Secretary General of Okerenkoko Federated community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, made the call in celebration of the 2025 edition of the International Youth Day in Warri, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Speaking to PENGlobal Community, Mr. Bebenimibo also called on the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Yakubu Mahmood, to implement the Warri Federal Constituency Ward Delineation report for the peace and progress of the Constituency.

He said, "As Nigerians and the rest of the world mark this year's International Youth Day, I advise the youths in Warri Federal Constituency, in Delta State and the nation at large to work for the peace and development of the society, not be to be used as tools for violence by war mongers.

"I also use this medium to call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to implement the Warri Federal Constituency Ward Delineation report for the peace and progress of the Constituency.

"The non-implementation of the report which has already been released by INEC is fostering tension and threatening the peace in the Constituency.

"Therefore, the delay of the implementation by INEC is not for the good and peace of the Constituency. Rather, it is being used as a means by mischief makers to create unnecessary tension," he noted.

Mr. Bebenimibo also called on the government to ensure that youth representation in government is given due attention as the youths remain a resource-base for development and growth of the state.

The IYD, which was first observed on August 12, 2000, is an awareness day designated by the United Nations with the purpose to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth.

The theme for the 2025 edition of the IYD is Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond, highlighting the unique role of youth in translating global ambitions into community-driven realities.
