N'DELTA: Opuedebubor Community Appeals for Renewal of Pipeline Surveillance Contract
Opuedebubor Community in ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has appealed to the relevant authorities for the renewal of the pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.
The appeal was signed by the Chairman, Rev. Theophilus Emotimide; Secretary, Mr. Ebiduomine Meeting; and Chief Ebimobowei Tangbe, on behalf of the Opuedebubor Community, on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
Community leaders said the appeal is based on the positive impact that Tantita’s operations have had on the community and across the Niger Delta region since the commencement of the surveillance programme.
According to the community, the presence of Tantita's surveillance team has brought about improved security around oil facilities and helped maintain peace within the area.
They also noted that the initiative has created employment opportunities for many youths in the community, reducing restiveness and encouraging productive engagement among young people.
The community further stated that pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft have significantly reduced since the surveillance activities began.
As a result of the improved security and monitoring, fishing activities in the area have gradually returned, providing a means of livelihood for many residents.
Community members also observed that trees, farmlands, and the general environment are now better preserved due to the reduction in oil spills and environmental pollution.
The development, they said, has restored hope and stability to families whose livelihoods depend largely on fishing and farming.
The community therefore appealed for the renewal of the contract, noting that its continuation will help sustain peace, environmental protection, and economic stability in the Niger Delta region.
