OCTOBER 1: NAGS announces N1m prize, gears up for its sporting historic event

The National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS) has announced a prized money of N1 million ahead of its sporting and historic programme tagged 'Aketekpe Summer Sports Event', in honour of the Pere of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II (JP), Aketekpe, Agadagba, set to hold in Oporoza Town on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The student body led by its President, Comrade Douye Simon, made this known through a member of the Organising Committee, Miss Nesiama Seigha.

The ceremony, which will merge sports with an historical presentation of the kingdom as part of sensitizing students and other natives about the popular Izon kingdom, is expected to have in attendance all sons and daughters of the kingdom including NAGS stakeholders.

The sports session will feature games ranging from Relay Race (Men & Women), 100–1500m Race, Sack Race, Egg Race, Men's 200m Race, Women's 200m Race, among other exciting and fun activities.

"Participants in the competition cut across various major communities, grouped into houses," said Nesiama Seigha.

"Oboro House represents Benikrukru, Fiyewei House for Oporoza, Akpata House for Okerenkoko, Ogeh House for Kunukunuama, Ebiabo House for Kokodiagbene, Etibo House for Azama, and Egbeya House for Ijaghala," she explained.

She further announced that there will boats to freely convey those willing to attend the ceremony from Warri to the venue at the King's Couple Jetty near NPA by 7:00am prompt.

The announcement of N1m prize money has already fueled excitement as participants are gearing up for the show down on October 1. Who will win the prize money? It is all a matter of time will tell.
