The Legionnaire for Mankind’s Health, LMH, a nongovernmental organisation in Nigeria, has called on Deltans and Nigerians at large to imbibe the habit of always keeping their environment clean, a task it said is the responsibility of everyone.

The call was made by the organization's Executive Director/Founder, Dr. Ernst Josef Franzek, during the 3rd phase of its environmental sanitation exercise which held in Effurun metropolis, Delta State, on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

Dr. Franzek, who was represented by the LMH Local Organising Officer, Mr. Patrick Padiayefagha, stated that the exercise, which is a triumph for health and humanity, is its way of showing real "commitment to promoting public health, environmental hygiene, and sustainable living."

According to Mr. Padiayefagha, "‎This impactful phase featured practical, on-ground activities including the clearing of blocked drainages, cutting of overgrown grasses, and the packing and proper disposal of accumulated dirt and waste.

"These actions were carried out with remarkable dedication by our team of volunteers, whose selfless service and enthusiasm continue to be the backbone of our success," he added.

The LMH Local Organising Officer further stated that sanitation habits is a panacea to halt the spread of diseases and that the exercise aligns with its mission to encourage healthy living, just he advocated for all to play their role in maintaining cleanliness.

He said, "‎Sanitation is not just a campaign, it is a critical public health measure. A clean environment is key to preventing disease, uplifting communities, and restoring dignity. This project directly aligns with LMH’s mission to promote health equity, preventive care, and environmental justice, especially in underserved areas.

‎"As we celebrate this progress, we must also remember: keeping our environment clean is everyone’s responsibility. Sustainable change starts with individual action. Each of us has a role to play in maintaining the health of our surroundings, for ourselves, for our neighbors, and for future generations," he added.

Mr. Padiayefagha applauded the founder's vision and leadership for the success recorded so far in the course of the exercise, as well as appreciated volunteers who participated in the initiative, which he revealed is an ongoing exercise that will bring about greater momentum and community involvement.

‎"We give special thanks and recognition to Dr. Franzek, whose visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the health and dignity of mankind continues to inspire every phase of this initiative. His passion drives the mission of LMH forward.

‎"Our sincere appreciation also goes to the team of volunteers who gave their time, energy, and heart to make this phase a reality. Your efforts reflect the very spirit of community and shared responsibility," he commended.
