COMMUNITY TEACHER PROJECT: Forum laud Gbaramatu stakeholders on transformative educational initiative

An educational Forum known as 'The School Management of All Secondary and Primary Schools in Gbaramatu Kingdom' in the Warri South-West council area of Delta State, has applauded the Pere of the ancient kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II (JP), Aketekpe, Agadagba; and Niger Delta foremost leader, High Chief Dr. Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo; as well as the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) as led by its President, Mr. Egbejule Arerebo Kingsley, among other stakeholders, for the educational transformation through the community teacher initiative that has led to improved excellent performance of students and pupils in the kingdom.

The Forum's commendation is contained in an appreciation message that was signed by Comrade Gabriel Ogwara for Gbaramatu Primary Schools, Mr. Emurashe Sunny Emo for Gbaramatu Secondary Schools, and Rev. Dr. Oreva Idudhe, Forum Secretary, and Adeghoro Bridget, Principal, Kokodiagbene Secondary School; with a copy made available to PENGlobal Community.

The Forum noted that the positive contributions by the stakeholders, which were driven by the youth council, have resulted in excellent performances by students and pupils across Gbaramatu schools, especially in the recently concluded West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations.

The appreciation message reads in part, "The School Management of all Secondary and Primary Schools in Gbaramatu Kingdom heartily appreciates His Royal Majesty, Aketekpe Agadagba, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, the Tompolo Foundation (High chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo), and the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) under the able leadership of Comrade Kingsley Arernebo Egbejule, for the successful completion of the first-year academic program of the Community Teacher Project in our kingdom.

"It is on academic record that this project represents the largest deployment of community teachers in Nigeria by a youth body. Since the deployment of these teachers, the quality of teaching and learning has improved tremendously, and the long-standing gap in the availability of professional teachers in our kingdom has been effectively bridged. This positive transformation was clearly reflected in the excellent performance of our students in the recently concluded West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) examinations across Gbaramatu secondary schools," the Forum added.

The Forum also thanked stakeholders for their valuable support and motivations that were given to inspire teachers to be committed to the teaching profession, as well as praised the GYC for staying committed to the project over the last one year.

"We also extend our profound gratitude to all leaders and stakeholders in Gbaramatu Kingdom who embraced and supported this life-changing initiative. Your encouragement, in the form of awards and cash prizes given to deserving teachers, has inspired greater dedication, hard work, and commitment among our educators.

"Furthermore, we are not unmindful of the vital logistics support the kingdom provided during the WAEC external examinations. The daily provision of speedboats for our supervisors ensured the smooth and timely arrival of examination papers, and this greatly contributed to the success of the process. Indeed, the GYC has distinguished itself in just one year of this transformative educational initiative.

"As we prepare to commence a new academic session in September 2025, we remain confident that divine grace will continue to abound, enabling this noble team to achieve even greater milestones for the kingdom," they prayed

The community teacher project is an initiative sponsored by the Tompolo Foundation in partnership with the GYC to close the gap in learning due to the lack of teachers in the kingdom. The programme provides for the welfare of teachers recruited by the kingdom, thereby giving a boost to quality education.
