IKANTU: ‘No one has the monopoly of violence’ — Fiyewei of Gbaramatu spits fire, warns against attack

The Fiyewei of ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Godspower Gbenekama Ph.D, has cautioned elements that are threatening to attack the people of Ikantu Community for identifying with their ancestral homeland, Gbaramatu Kingdom, warning that "No one has the monopoly of violence!"
The Fiyewei's warning is contained in a video circulated on social media platforms over the weekend, less than 24 hours after the people of Ikantu Community held a press briefing announcing to Nigerians and the world that they are part of Gbaramatu Kingdom.
According to the Fiyewei, who said he has never issued any warning to the Itsekiri people over threats of violence against the Ijaws, particularly the Gbaramatu people, however stated that the warning became necessary with what he alleged as threats against the Ikantu people.
"First and foremost, I want to thank God for the life of our people, the Ikantu people, who have come out boldly to dispel all doubts about their ancestry and where they belong to. We thank God for their lives and they will continue to be protected.
"However, information has arrived in the media that there are threats to the lives of the Ikantu people for saying the truth. Right or wrong, let us put it on record that nobody is having the right to violence. Nobody has the monopoly of misbehavior. Nobody has the monopoly of the social media.
"Since the beginning of the rants from the elements that calls out our people, I, the spokesman of Gbaramatu Kingdom, have never made any video. But it is now pertinent to say, and state the obvious . I repeat, nobody, nobody, nobody, should touch anybody from Ikantu," he warned angrily.
The Fiyewei, who reassured the people of Ikantu Community that the Gbaramatu people are solidly behind them, and as such they should not be intimidated, also called on other Gbaramatu Ijaw communities that are in the same state with Ikantu to retrace their origin.
"We are solidly behind Ikantu people. For anybody to stretch their hands to as much as touch the hair of any Ikantu man, on account of the truth they have said they will incur the wraths of the gods of Gbaramatu Kingdom. And the gods of Gbaramatu Kingdom that I know, will not hesitate to take action. So to be forewarned is to be fore armed.
"And let me also say, all those children of Gbaramatu that are claiming to be Itsekiris, please, trace your ancestry. And I'm using this video to call on all other communities, like Obodo, where Owezibiri was buried; Amadinor Community fishing camp, that is the name, where Miemie was buried; and Zou-ama, where Egbegha founded, they should also retrace their steps. Gbaramatu is standing solidly behind them.
"And as I speak, nobody will touch them. Let them say the truth, for once. Those their threats na water, nothing go happen to una. And if there should anybody touch the hair of any of these communities on the account of the truth they are saying, the gods of the land of Gbaramatu will fight for them," he reassured.
Gbenekama also cautioned the Ologbostere of Itsekiri Kingdom, Chief Ayiri Emami, to retrace his steps and should be mindful of the fact that he is affiliated to the Gbaramatu Ijaws, a fact he alleged is part of the reasons he wants to be stripped off the Ologbotsere title.
"I am using this video to tell people like Ayiri Emami, they want, they are struggling to remove you from the Ologboshere of the Itsekiri Kingdom because you are Ijaw ancestry... You are there, going to defend them in the NSA office. Well, nobody will stop you. But retrace your steps."
