PAP: Resolve BVN Issues With Your Bank, Not Threat to Protest — Ijaw Group Tells Controversial Delegates
The Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative, (IPDI) has told aggrieved delegates of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) to go to their respective financial houses to resolve their Bank Verification Number (BVN) issues instead of resorting to unnecessary protest, adding that BVN issues had nothing to do with the PAP office.
The group while reiterating its stand that no protest can solve the problem of the allegedly affected beneficiaries, insisted that the affected individuals should present themselves for verification.
The IPDI also stressed on the fundamental maxims of equity for the aggrieved delegates, maintaining that "he that come for equity must come with clean hands."
Speaking further the group said, "No protest can solve your problem. Go and solve your BVN problems with your banks. Your BVN problems were not created by the amnesty office.
"It was a bank policy and government directives that every individual in the country should fix their personal BVN number to his or her account. So, it has nothing to do with the amnesty office.
"Again, your accounts were not opened by the amnesty office, you did open your accounts by yourselves. Let the alleged beneficiaries solve their BVN issues with their banks and go for PAP verification; once you are cleared, the problem is solved," the group counseled.
IPDI said the PAP office has shown magnanimity by calling for verification of individuals in the various camps.
"Those threatening protests are the alleged camp leaders that were using fake names to get bulk payment fraudulently; no genuine camp is complaining about stipend payments.
"The PAP office is magnanimous enough to call for verification of individuals in the various camps, with provision of accommodation and transport fairs, but the controversial camps with fake names refused to go, to avoid exposing their frauds but decided to call for a protest and make unnecessary noise for public sympathy," the group alleged.
The IPDI further questioned the genuineness of some of the alleged beneficiaries.
"These show that the genuineness of the very alleged beneficiaries threatening protests were in serious doubt. The public and NSA should disregard the noise makers and attention seekers looking for public sympathy to continue their evil deeds.
"The PAP office is magnanimous to show readiness to solve your problems. But the reason you don't want to go is that you want bulk payment for alleged fake names you have been collecting their money since 2009 and 2010," it alleged.
