The Ubebe family has drawn the attention of the public, particularly the members of the New Jerusalem Zion Community in Oporoza Town, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, that the correct names of the sole founder of the aforementioned church is "St. Elisha Brakoru Ubebe" and not "Elijah Brakoru Ubebe".

The family made the affirmation in a statement that was signed by Capt. James Izuokumor Ubebe and a copy made available to PENGlobal Community on Friday, September 19, 2025.

According to the statement, the correction becomes imperative in order to avoid what it referred to as "a distortion in the historical and cultural records of the community" which it said "and does not represent the true identity of such an iconic figure."

The full statement titled 'Clarification And Correction On The Name Of St. Elisha Brakoru Ubebe, Sole Founder Of New Jerusalem Zion, Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West LGA, Delta State' and dated 17th September 2025, reads as follows:

"In recent times, there have been noticeable errors and mis-presentations concerning the name of the highly revered St. Elisha Brakoru Ubebe, the sole founder of the New Jerusalem Zion. It has come to light that in certain quarters and publications, his name has been mistakenly written and circulated as ‘Elijah Brakoru Ubebe.’

"This error, though perhaps unintended, creates a distortion in the historical and cultural records of the community and does not represent the true identity of such an iconic figure.

"To set the record straight, I, Capt. James Izuokumor Ubebe, the first son of St. Elisha Brakoru Ubebe, affirm that the correct name of my father is indeed Elisha Brakoru Ubebe not Elijah Brakoru Ubebe as scantily used by some persons.

"In the light of this correction, I crave the indulgence of the general public to take note particularly New Jerusalem Zion Community, Oporoza Town Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West LGA Delta State, Nigeria."
