BIOGRAPHY: Adieu to a Man of Courage, Late Elder Felix Kperiki Yumbis Okoromadu

After a brief Christian funeral service observed in an atmosphere of sadness, the body of late Elder Felix Kperiki Yumbis Okoromadu was committed to Mother Earth in his hometown, Benikrukru Community in the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, with families and sympathisers bidding eternal farewell to the departed father, grandfather and great grandfather on Friday, May 29, 2026.

The brief ceremony was conducted by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in honour of the 70-year-old whose life, according to his biography, is a demonstration of courage and the determination to succeed despite challenges as narrated below:

"The late Okoromadu, born on the 15th of October 1956 in Benikrukru to Mr and Mrs Yumbis Okoromadu, at a tender age, was taken in by his paternal uncle, Mr Okini Kpenfe, with whom he lived for a few years at Benin River until he returned to Benikrukru to begin his primary education under the care of his father's brother, Mr Company Okoromadu.

"Although his primary education was discontinued shortly due to life challenges, young Felix moved to live with his father in Tebujor and Opuedebibor communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom between 1971 and 1973 before returning to his hometown Benikrukru with his father. During this period he assisted his father in canoe carving, fishing and other local crafts, learning the values of hard work, perseverance and responsibility from an early age.

"As a hardworking and determined young man, his first major employment opportunity came through Seismic Operations in 1980, which took him to Aruton. There, he worked as a contract staff with Gulf Oil (now Chevron Corporation), serving diligently until the completion of the contract in 1982.

"Around the same period he suffered a painful loss of his father. Driven by the desire to build a meaningful life, Papa worked with Seismic and geological companies across several states including Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Cross River.

"In 1984 he returned to Bibopere Zion Okerenkoko, his maternal home where he established his fishing business as a young entrepreneur committed to supporting his family and contributing to society. It was during this time that his maternal uncle Capt. John Kpenfe encouraged him to try his fishing activities in the parts of Rivers State where fishing opportunities were believed to be more promising. Courageous and adventurous in nature, he embraced the opportunity and relocated there to start a merger with his uncle in 1988.

"Papa spent over two decades in the fishing business across Rivers and Bayelsa states. In May 2017, he returned home and continued his fishing business in Oburukrian, where he lived peacefully and continue providing for his family until his brief illness and passing.

"Pale, as he was fondly called, was known as a peaceful, hardworking, disciplined and family-oriented man; he valued unity, dedication, education and the well-being of his loved ones. He was a lover of strangers, a upholder and custodian of truth and justice, and a teacher who taught his trade to many. His life was marked by resilience, humility and unwavering commitment to his family and community. He was an active member of the Benikrukru Elders Council till his passing after a brief illness on November 12, 2025.

"Papa was a devoted family man who deeply loved children and valued family life. He was married to Mrs Blessing and the union was blessed with four children before their separation (although he sadly experienced the painful loss of two of this: Goodness and Favour, during his lifetime). He was married to Mrs Regina Okoromadu and Mrs Victoria Okoromadu till his passing. These union were blessed with seven children each.

"As a Christian, Papa began his Christian journey at Souls Harvesters Ministry where he joined the work force as a single brother and later joined the C&S Church of Zion in Bibopere, Okerenkoko, where he was trained at the school of Theology, Ugbonla, in 1992 and ordained as a Junior Apostle.

"Papa faithfully served for several years until the early 2000s when he and his family began attending pentecostal churches, and from early 2010 until his passing, he worshiped at the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

"Late Felix Okoromadu is survived by his two wives, 16 children, a grandchild, and many related whose lives he touched in countless ways. His legacy of hard work, discipline, courage and justice will live on in the heart of all who knew him. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace."

A Thanksgiving service will be held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Region 50 headquarters, Maranatha Parish, in Udu local government area of Delta State, marking the conclusion of the funeral rites.
