General Overseer and Founder of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church of Zion Worldwide, Hollywood Zion Ministry, His Eminence, Rev. (Dr.) K. J. Tukuru, popularly known as De Zion Doctor, De Teme Efere, led worshippers in the breaking of a seven day fast with assorted fruits in the church auditorium as part of the activities marking the Easter celebration.

The spiritual ceremony held at the National Headquarters of the church at No 5 Egbetamah Street through Adu Street off Okoro Street, 1st Marine Gate in Warri, Delta State, on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

The spiritual exercise of fasting, which has become an annual tradition, according to worshippers is believed to attract blessings from the Almighty God and is seen as an act of submission to the divine power of God for deliverance and breakthroughs in their lives.

"This year's programme of dru fasting started after Palm Sunday. So after Palm Sunday every year, the next day, which is Monday, we come into the church and we fast," said Aladura Tukuru Edith Preye, daughter of the founder in a chat with PENGlobal Social while explaining the nature of the spiritual exercise.

"The fasting lasts for a period of seven days, from Monday to Sunday, which is the Easter Sunday. And then we break the fast by calling on other branches around the world and then we break the fast with fruits," she added.

"Also, today happens to be the founder's birthday, which is King Gesiye Tukuru, the founder of Hollywood Zion Ministry and the National Coordinator of all garment churches worldwide. So, in the Easter celebration, we are still adding his birthday celebration to it. So it's just a celebration of life, the resurrection of Jesus Christ," she added.

Also speaking on the spiritual exercise, General Aladura Abednego, the head of the Cherubim Band of Hollywood Zion Ministry, said the 2025 edition marked the 17th year since the founder received the divine message from God, with the backing from the late second King of Zion and that the programme kick-started at the New Jerusalem Zion Oporoza, before it was been moved to the headquarters of Hollywood Zion Ministry in Warri.

He also revealed that since its inception many who have participated in the exercise witnessed breakthroughs in their business, jobs, careers, homes among others, just as he charged believers to endeavour to partake inorder for them to receive their miracles.

"This is a wonderful programme, a programme ordained by God. I advise every individual that if you have a challenge and you believe in God, come and you will be a testifier," he assured.

Other highlights of the ceremony include singing of praises in joyful mood and the offering of prayers, with expectations built on God to perfect everything that concerns them.
