EDUCATION: PAP Students' Academic Performances ‘Tremendous’, ARU Commends Initiative as Otuaro Reaffirms Tinubu's Commitment
The management of Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), United Kingdom, has applauded the impressive academic performance of students sponsored by the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) under the leadership of its Administrator, High Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro,, describing reports from its faculties on the beneficiaries as "tremendous."
The commendation came on Wednesday when a delegation from the university, led by its Regional Director for Africa, Dr. Nana Adom, paid a courtesy visit to the Administrator of the PAP, High Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro, at the PAP headquarters in Abuja.
Other members of the delegation included the university's Senior Admissions Manager, Eve Flower, and Country Manager for Nigeria, Linda Ayodele.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Adom said the delegation was in Abuja to explore avenues for strengthening the longstanding partnership between Anglia Ruskin University and the PAP.
He expressed appreciation to Dr. Otuaro for sustaining the partnership, noting that the university has continued to receive glowing reports from lecturers and faculties regarding the academic excellence, discipline and commitment demonstrated by PAP scholarship beneficiaries.
Responding, Dr. Otuaro reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to expanding educational opportunities for youths of the Niger Delta through the Presidential Amnesty Programme's scholarship scheme, describing education as a critical pillar of the President's Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, the Federal Government remains committed to bridging the human capital development gap in the Niger Delta by investing in quality education for the region's young people.
He said, "President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is unwaveringly committed to supporting the Presidential Amnesty Programme, and he believes strongly that education is one of the best things for our youths in the Niger Delta.
"This is because President Tinubu is concerned about the need to bridge the human capital development gap in the region, and he is irrevocably committed to it. The value of this educational investment will be great," Otuaro expressed confidence.
The PAP Administrator disclosed that Anglia Ruskin University currently has 69 PAP alumni, while 28 scholarship beneficiaries are actively studying various courses at the institution, and added that under his administration, 36 students have been deployed to the university, with two expected to graduate in September 2026, four in January 2027, and 18 in May 2027.
Otuaro also highlighted the programme's growing academic success, revealing that PAP recently produced more than 50 first-class graduates and over 40 second-class upper graduates, a development he said reflects the quality of beneficiaries selected under the scholarship scheme.
He further disclosed that the programme has sponsored over 9,000 students to tertiary institutions within Nigeria and 273 students to universities across the United Kingdom, describing the initiative as a strategic investment in the future of the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.
The PAP Administrator thanked Anglia Ruskin University for its enduring collaboration with the programme, expressing confidence that the partnership would continue to produce globally competitive graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.
He also noted that the people of the Niger Delta have continued to appreciate the expansion of educational opportunities under the programme, stressing that the beneficiaries would, in turn, contribute their knowledge and skills toward the growth and development of their communities and the nation.
