In furtherance of its commitment to promoting education, youth development and grassroots empowerment, the Ernest Bebenimibo Foundation (EBF) has unveiled Phase One of its Street-to-School Legacy Project 2026, an educational support initiative designed to provide learning materials to pupils and students in riverine communities.

The first phase of the project is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Gbaraun Grammar School and Fiyewei Primary School, both in Oporoza, headquarters of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

"The Ernest Bebenimibo Foundation (EBF) is delighted to announce Phase One of the Street-to-School Legacy Project 2026, taking our commitment to education, hope, and empowerment directly to children in our communities," the Foundation stated.

Under the programme, pupils and students at the beneficiary schools to be visited will receive essential educational materials, including school bags, notebooks, writing materials and mathematical sets.

The Foundation explained that the intervention goes beyond the distribution of educational materials, as the Street-to-School Legacy Project will also provide an avenue to encourage young learners to take their education seriously, believe in their abilities, and aspire towards a brighter future.

"The initiative is aimed at taking its message of education, hope and empowerment directly to children while helping to address some of the basic challenges that could hinder their learning and academic development," the EBF stressed.

It further stressed that investing in children's education remains one of the most sustainable ways of building stronger communities and preparing the younger generation to become productive members of society.

Beyond providing learning tools, the Foundation said it intends to interact with and inspire the beneficiaries to dream beyond their immediate circumstances and understand that education can serve as a pathway to greater opportunities.

The September outreach is expected to mark the beginning of the 2026 Street-to-School Legacy Project, with the Foundation describing the initiative with the theme: "Equipping Children. Inspiring Dreams. Building Futures."

The educational intervention further underscores the growing role of non-governmental and philanthropic organisations in complementing efforts to improve access to learning resources, particularly for children in riverine and underserved communities of the Niger Delta.
