NAF PLANE CRASH: Ijaw Publishers' Forum Mourns 25 Military Personnel

The Ijaw Publishers' Forum (IPF) has expressed profound grief over the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash that reportedly claimed the lives of 25 military personnel, describing the incident as a devastating loss to the nation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the President of the Forum, Comrade Ozobo Austin, conveyed the organisation's condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Air Force and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, as well as the families of the deceased.

The IPF described the deaths of the military personnel as a deeply painful moment for the nation and the Nigerian Armed Forces, stressing the significant sacrifice made by the victims in service to the nation.

The Forum said: "On behalf of the Ijaw Publishers' Forum and the entire Ijaw Nation, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Nigerian Air Force and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, over the tragic aircraft crash that occurred on Monday.

“The unfortunate incident, which resulted in the death of 25 brave military personnel, particularly officers and men of the Nigerian Air Force, has plunged the nation into profound sorrow and mourning," he added 

The Forum noted that the deceased were committed personnel who devoted themselves to serving the country, adding that their deaths represented a significant loss to Nigeria.

It further stated that the IPF and the people of Ijaw Nation stand firmly with the Armed Forces and the bereaved families during this difficult period.

"We stand in solidarity with the Nigerian military, the families of the victims and the entire nation at this painful time. We pray that Almighty God grants the bereaved families the strength, courage and comfort to bear this irreparable loss," the statement added.

Recalled that the tragic incident involving the NAF 931 aircraft occurred on Monday, October 5, 2026, in Igbokoda, Ondo State, According to the Air Force, the aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when the accident occurred with 25 people on board, comprising five crew members and 20 passengers.
