LEADERSHIP: Ugbai Quarter Endorses Felix Ari for Kunukunuma Chairmanship
The Ugbai Quarter of Kunukunuma Federated Community in the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has endorsed Mr. Felix Fideseigha Ari as its preferred candidate for the community’s chairmanship.
The endorsement followed a general family meeting held on October 6, 2026, attended by elders, leaders, youths, women’s representatives and other stakeholders, according to a communiqué issued by the quarter’s elders and leaders.
The communiqué was signed by Pa. Okeren Binimein, for the elders; Mr. Matthew Kalabar Someboy, Public Relations Officer (PRO), for the leaders; Mr. Endurance Bekenawei, Vice, for the leaders; and Priestess Afin Someboy, the Ogoni Kari-ere of Kunukunuma Federated Community.

According to the communiqué issued, the decision was reached after deliberations on the aspirations, records, experience and contributions of the candidates, including Mr. Beke Abraham Tebeiano and Engr. Welfare Timinimi.
It described Ari as a candidate whose humility, respect for others, transparency, accountability, character and commitment to the community’s collective interests informed the quarter’s decision.

The elders acknowledged Tebeiano’s past service to the community but noted that he had served three consecutive terms in the Community Executive, stressing that they considered it appropriate to give other capable and qualified members an opportunity to serve, in the interest of inclusive and rotational leadership.
The communiqué also encouraged Timinimi, whose recent participation in the quarter’s affairs was acknowledged, to remain actively involved in community activities and development initiatives.

Calling for consultation and accountability, the quarter urged its representatives to communicate effectively with its leadership and remain answerable to the people they represent.
It also encouraged community members to respect constituted leadership and collectively reached decisions.
The elders appealed to all aspirants, supporters and stakeholders to conduct themselves with peace, maturity, mutual respect and decorum throughout the selection and election process, which should strengthen unity and cooperation within the community.
