NIGER DELTA: IPRICUG Seeks Protection for Tantita's Operations, Commends Tompolo's Leadership, Philanthropy
A prominent Niger Delta socio-cultural organisation and social justice advocacy group, the Ijaw People's Rights Crusaders Group (IPRICUG), Warri Urban, has called for the continued support and protection of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), citing the company's outstanding contributions to safeguarding Nigeria's critical oil infrastructure.
IPRICUG's call is contained in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Comrade Godspower Puluwei Ebiyai, and Secretary, Mr. Ebi Kodokodo Fesougha, and made available to journalists in Warri on Wednesday, July 9, 2026.
While praising the security firm for its unwavering commitment to protecting the nation's strategic oil assets, the group maintained that TSSNL popularly called Tantita has consistently demonstrated exceptional professionalism and technical expertise in combating crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, illegal bunkering, and artisanal refining across the Niger Delta.
According to the group, TSSNL has played a pivotal role in securing oil pipeline infrastructure that had suffered years of relentless attacks by vandals and oil theft syndicates, leading to billions of dollars in revenue losses, severe economic setbacks, and declining crude oil production quotas under the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
IPRICUG noted that the company's remarkable success in curbing oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal refining activities has significantly boosted Nigeria's crude oil production, enhanced national revenue, and contributed to improved economic stability.
The organisation also paid glowing tribute to the Chairman of Tantita Security Services, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, describing him as an exceptional leader whose visionary leadership, strategic acumen, and unwavering commitment to national development have transformed the fight against economic sabotage in the Niger Delta.
It further described Tompolo as a rare blessing to the Ijaw Nation, Delta State, and Nigeria at large, applauding his courage, patriotism, and dedication to protecting the country's economic lifeline.
Beyond his leadership achievements, the group commended Tompolo's humanitarian interventions, noting that his numerous philanthropic initiatives have positively impacted the lives of widows, vulnerable women, unemployed youths, persons with disabilities (PWDs), students, and other less privileged members of society.
While condemning what it described as politically motivated smear campaigns against the Tantita Chairman, IPRICUG warned detractors to desist from attempts to tarnish his hard-earned reputation or undermine the company's successes in the fight against crude oil theft.
The group stressed that such campaigns were aimed at sabotaging the gains recorded in the protection of Nigeria's oil and gas facilities and should be resisted by all well-meaning Nigerians.
Reaffirming its position, IPRICUG pledged its unwavering support for Tompolo and Tantita Security Services, assuring that it would continue to defend the integrity of the renowned Ijaw leader and support the company's efforts in delivering quality security services to the nation.
"The professional capacity and top-notch expertise that Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited brings to its operations underscore the depth of its efficiency and competence as a wholly indigenous company," the statement read.
The organisation also extended its support and solidarity to other distinguished sons and daughters of the Ijaw Nation making significant contributions to national development.
Those recognised include High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited; Engr. Matthew Tonlagha, Chairman of Maton Engineering Nigeria Limited; Chief (Dr.) Dennis Brutu Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP); Dr. Paul Bebenimibo; Barr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro; and several other notable Ijaw leaders whom it described as worthy ambassadors of the Niger Delta.
