AMASEIKUMOR FESTIVAL 2026: EMT Foundation, Others Offer Free Medicare

As the Amaseikumor Festival 2026 enters its Day 3 on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, with Gbaraun Egbesu worship in Oporoza Community, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, healthcare providers such as the Amaseikumor Festival Medical Service Team and the Esther Matthew Tonlagha (EMT) Foundation have been busy ensuring to provide first responder services on emergency cases as well as medical care to those in need.

Our correspondents gathered that the free medical outreach has been on since the annual festival began on Monday, April 6, 2026, with over 300 beneficiaries benefitting from the free healthcare services. For instance, the EMT Foundation is offering a 5-day free medical check up and eye surgery to patients.

Speaking to our correspondents, Dr. Clarkson Agagha, Head of Amaseikumor Medical team said, "Our mandate is to provide free medical services, and as you can see we have been doing that," he said in a chat with PENGlobal correspondence, and added, "Part of the free medical services contains free eye care services, free glasses provision, and even free eye operations."

He further revealed that asides free eye checkup and glasses provision, patients are being scheduled for eye surgery at the end of the annual festival, while those with dental care needs have been attended to too.

"As it were we have been screening patients for eye operations that will be done on Friday or Saturday, the last day of the festival.

"Then we equally have a dental care services. If you observe, a lot of persons have been attended to with our dental care needs. And we started that since the festival began on Monday," he stressed.

"We have seen all kinds of cases. On the second day of the festival we had two operations done: appendectomy and aneurysm. Aneurysm is a repair for hernia. So we have been doing quite a lot and we are seeing a lot of patients," he disclosed.

On those who have benefitted so far from the free medical care, he said, "I think between Monday till now (Wednesday), we should be above 300 patients."

Daily, participants at the Amaseikumor Festival troop into the special canopy stand, while medical specialists could be seen attending to the influx of patients as they come. On display at a section is all sorts of free medicines (including tablets and syrups) for patients. There are even beddings for patients.

"One Heart, One Community," reads the slogan of the Esther Matthew Tonlagha Foundation's banner on display at the venue; an expression that conveys the message of oneness as showcased by the commendable initiative sponsored by Engr. Matthew and Mrs. Esther Tonlagha.
